Port Arthur Terminal, TX

PAT serves as a strategic destination terminal for USD’s DRUbit™ product and patented Diluent Recovery Unit (“DRU”) technology within USD’s heavy crude oil network. USD’s heavy crude oil network is anchored by a DRU processing facility adjacent to USD’s Hardisty Rail Terminal in Alberta Canada. Creation of the innovative DRUbit™ product at Hardisty, a heavy Canadian crude oil product designed for safe and efficient rail transportation, allows for seamless rail loading and diluent recycling. DRU is a known technology that produces a bitumen barrel sustainable for rail transportation (Canadian patent for USD’s DRU: C10G 31/06; U.S. patent pending).

The PAT facility receives DRUbit™ (and other heavy crudes such as Canadian “dilbit”) via 120-car unit trains. The DRUbit™ is offloaded into storage tanks at the PAT facility, blended with lighter crudes and condensates, and then transported to other distribution and refinery locations via pipeline or barge. The PAT facility handles approximately 50,000 barrels per day of DRUbit™, light crude, and condensates (Phase I). The facility has been designed to expand as subsequent phases of development could increase throughput volumes significantly.

The PAT facility provides both greenfield and brownfield development opportunities for other bulk-liquid commodities including refined products, feedstocks and intermediates, chemicals, and biofuels, as well as dry-bulk aggregates, laydown storage, and railcar storage-in-transit.
